A Really Old Quilt

This quilt was made by my Grandmothers' Great Grandmother.  It just came into my possession via a cousin who is downsizing.  She'd listed it on Craig's List and her sister sprang into action and said she should consider giving it to me because I'm a quilter.  A few text messages and emails resulted in the quilt arriving at my house.  I assured both cousins that it would stay in the family.  It needs some TLC but it's really in good shape.

My grandmother was born in 1891.  We don't know which of her great grandmother's made this quilt, but they were all born in the 1700s.  I bet it was made in the late 1700s or early 1800s and of course, it was all stitched by hand.

I had lunch with my friend Jane this week and described the quilt to her.  She asked if it was a Drunkards' Path, and I bet it is.  What do you think?
May your bobbins always be full,

  1. Blue and white were the Temperance Movement colors popular in this Drunkards Path pattern, popular in the early 1900s. I'm wondering if your quilt is from this time period? The 1700s might be a stretch.

    1. Definitively not. My grandmother was born in 1891 and this quilt was made two generations before.
