SDMQG Vintage Quilt Revival QAL ~ July Block

For this QAL, I started with a FQ bundle of Modern Solids 2 by In The Beginning Fabrics and added a bundle of Textura by Susy Pilgrim Waters for P&B Textiles.  They work so well together and provide a little umph, I think.  I decided on a black background and I think it really makes the colors pop.

The July block is called Double Z, and it was really easy.  The HSTs are 3.5", so the finished block is 12.5".  I went ahead and made twice as many of HSTs necessary, thinking I might make two Double Zs; instead, I browsed the book and decided to make a Classic Mosaic block.  I'm sure I'll find a use for it.

Here's the two blocks together.  Now I'm going to see if I can get the August block, which involves paper piecing, finished today or tomorrow.  Below is the book we're using for this QAL, incase you're interested.

May your bobbins always be full,

  1. The black is perfect, the colors do really pop. I like that double Z, it's really different.
